In February 2010, Ralf Speth became the new Director of Jaguar Land Rover8. In January 2015, Gerd Mäuser was appointed Chief Marketing Officer, replacing Phil Popham, who had left for Sunseeker9. On 12 June 2007, Ford informed the British government of its intention to sell Jaguar and Land Rover. The previous year, the American manufacturer lost more than 13 billion euros, not because of Land Rover, because that brand posted record sales in 2006, but rather because of Jaguar and itself. Indeed, competition from luxury is fierce (Bentley from the German group Volkswagen AG and Aston Martin owned by David Richards, a former English driver) and Ford products Ford has decided to get rid of Jaguar and Land Rover, as this brand depends on Jaguar for the engine part (V8 engine). Tata Motors bought Land Rover and Jaguar from Ford for $2.3 billion on March 26, 20087. After the takeover, Tata Motors transferred Land Rover and Jaguar into Jaguar Land Rover.
